Appleton Estate's Legend recreates a piece of rum history: a faithful homage to the J. Wray & Nephew 17 Year Old, the Jamaican pot-still rum long credited as the original spirit behind the 1944 Mai Tai. Master Blender Dr. Joy Spence worked from archival records to reconstruct the blend from rare 100% pot-still distillate matured in Nassau Valley. Bottled at 49% ABV, expect toffee-apple, banana, and cola-tinged sweetness giving way to a long, warm finish — best sipped neat or in a proper Mai Tai.
