Herzog Winery Special Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-vineyard dry red from Trestle Glen Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, California, where the block sits on gravelly volcanic soil between the Sonoma Mountain and Mayacamas ranges. Part of Herzog's small-lot Single Vineyard series (fewer than 500 cases), it pours full-bodied and concentrated, with black fruit, blackcurrant, and chocolate up front, cherry and baking spice through the middle, and cedar-and-vanilla oak on the finish. Built for the cellar or the table, it's a natural match for grilled steak or aged hard cheese.
