Chateau Pontet-Canet 2022 is a Bordeaux red blend from this Grand Cru Classe estate in Pauillac, on the Medoc peninsula overlooking the Gironde estuary. The property farms its 81 hectares of Garonne gravel and limestone soil biodynamically, using horse plowing across roughly 100 individual plots, and ages the wine in a mix of new oak barrels and clay amphora. Built mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2022 shows dark blackcurrant and black plum fruit, chalky, well-knit tannins, and a long mineral finish. Best decanted and paired with roasted lamb or aged hard cheeses.
