Essa Blanc Fumé is a dry white Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend from Essa Wine Co., made on South Africa's Cape South Coast near Hermanus's cool-climate Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. Winemaker Josh Rynderman ferments the blend in barrel and ages it on the lees in French oak for nearly a year, building weight and texture around the fruit rather than masking it. Expect a light gold pour with citrus, pear, and a touch of white pepper, balanced by bright acidity and a creamy finish. Pour it alongside grilled fish, roast chicken, or a soft ripened cheese.
