Nearly all rum starts with molasses — this one starts in a field in North Kohala, where Kuleana grows more than 40 heirloom Hawaiian cane varieties descended from original canoe plants. The fresh-pressed juice is fermented the same day and distilled in a Portuguese copper pot still, then cut with deep Kona seawater. Expect grassy, green-banana brightness with pineapple, lime, and a whisper of sea salt. Pour it neat over one big cube, or let it carry a tiki cocktail.
