Bartenura's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from the Ovadia Estates line is a dry Italian red made from the Montepulciano grape in Abruzzo, the DOC region on Italy's Adriatic side. Winemaking follows a controlled-temperature fermentation with 10-12 days of maceration, then a brief rest in large Slavonian oak barrels before further aging in bottle. Expect a deep ruby glass, aromas of forest fruit and violets, and a palate of velvety tannins closing on a fruity finish. Pour it alongside roasted meats, tomato-based pasta, or aged cheese.
