Barbados rum takes an unexpected detour into the Andes with this release from Mount Gay's Master Blender Collection. Double-distilled in traditional copper pot stills, the rum spends fourteen years mellowing in ex-bourbon casks, then finishes eleven months in virgin Andean oak — a wood the distillery had never used before. Bottled at 48% ABV and non-chill filtered to keep its natural color and aroma, it opens with vanilla and candied fruit, unfolding into nutmeg, toasted coconut, and ripe pear. Best sipped neat alongside firm, cave-aged goat cheese.
